Job Coach - Overview and Application

Summary:

We are looking for a positive, fun and caring person to join our amazing team! Must have a passion for advocating for opportunities that help individuals with developmental disabilities realize their full potential in work and everyday life. The role of the onsite job coach will be to implement formal job coaching strategies and other means of helping adults with developmental disabilities thrive in a competitive employment setting. Some of the job details: Onsite, one-on-one coaching/mentoring at an awesome coffee shop. 12-37 hours per week which vary between 7am-2pm Tues thru Fri and 8-3pm on Saturdays. This could be a temporary position that fades out or requires a transition to work as a direct hire through a partner/provider agency.

Job Qualifications

  • Must be willing to help coordinate job coaching benefit services with individuals in our supported employment program, their providers and Mi Work Matters

  • May be necessary to become employed directly through the individual’s service provider or a direct hire of the individual

  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities 

  • Knowledge of ADA guidelines and types of disabilities

  • Knowledge of workforce development practices for people with disabilities including customized employment

  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge of coffee shop & cafe operations

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude

  • Ability to stay positive under pressure

  • Familiarity with Person Centered Planning

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with appropriate insurance

  • First Aid

  • CPR

  • Work to obtain additional requirements as outlined by a service provider

  • Serv Safe desired
